| The Town in the Bowed Hills |
An easy walk to a sweeping view of Snowdonia's giants
Pentrefoelas simply means “Town in the Bowed Hills”, an apt name indeed as you let your eyes sweep the horizons. The knolly landscape was renowned for its grouse shooting and is still home to the very rare black grouse and birds of prey such as hen harrier.
Views towards the summit of Snowdonia can be idyllic, sweeping northwards from the remote Arans to Snowdon itself. A village heritage trail explores the recent history of the little estate village that also served as a staging point for change of horses in stagecoach days.
